The state of Rajasthan is solely responsible for the creation of the textile art “leheriya”. Desert landscapes are said to be the source of inspiration for those who work in crafts. Leheriya and Bandhani is a kind of cloth that has been manufactured via resist dyeing, and it often has striped patterns in the shape of chevrons or diagonals. It is a kind of resistance that can only be seen in the Indian state of Gujarat, namely in the towns of Surat and Jodhpur.

The color-resist dyeing procedure used by Lehariya and Bandhani creates a stunning ripple pattern in the fabric's hypnotic hues. Using a variety of bright colors, this method makes wavy, diagonal stripes that look very beautiful.

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, local businessmen and traders liked to wear turbans made of colorful leheriya fabric and bandhani fabric. This helped in making both fabrics popular.

Leheriya

Leheriya

The Leheriya is a visual evocation of the flow of water, which helps to create an atmosphere that is tranquil and relaxing along the shore. In particular, when used with indigo, it reveals the wondrously variable depths of color that result from the application of numerous mud-resistant and dyeing procedures. It should come as no surprise that the blues in Leheriya make one's attention immediately drawn to them.

In modern times, leheriya is worn not just as a piece of clothing but also as an accessory. It is currently seen on apparel that is both formal and informal, as well as bags and shoes, and on accessories like scarves and cravats.

Bandhani

Bandhani

Bandhini is a traditional art form from the Indian state of Gujarat that consists of tying little dots on cloth with a continuous thread and then dying the fabric. The end effect is a bright and erratic mixture of colors such as emerald and sapphire, aqua and yellow, or vermillion and saffron. It is interesting to note that the skill of tying requires the use of a long fingernail, which is applied to the part of the cloth that has to be tied in order to select it out.

Some of the finished outfits, such as turbans, dupattas, and sarees, come with appliqué and patchwork borders or motifs produced with bandhani and leheriya, while others come with stitched borders sprinkled with sparkling mirror work. The kurtas come with eye-catching yokes, and some of the dupattas include borders or tassels on their edges. Even though the method used may seem old-fashioned, the overall effect is very modern and creative.

Alia Bhatt's ethnic wear collection is heavily weighted toward bandhani, as seen by her use of a diverse range of styles. The polka-dot fabric, together with elaborate embroidery and motifs, creates the most comfortable classic fit. With her passion for bandhej on full display, Alia Bhatt chose an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla design at an event for her next film, RRR, wearing a sunset-hued color. It features a red and yellow color scheme, with a spread-out version of the cloth and a fiery red top. The saree is a good choice for people who want to try out traditional dyes for celebrations but don't want to commit to a certain design or size.
